  You've got nowhere to go.

it moves so fast that
porch lights blink
like christmas lights
as nights come and go
the world is spinning so fast
we can feel our feet lifting
as it threatens to throw us off
I worry that the earth
has no gravity
that it's all in our hearts
and when we lose ourselves
we simply float away
and when they ask
"whatever happened to...?"
you know where they went
unwitting astronauts
they're off kissing stars
like the backs of hands
of all those teenage dreamers

and one day you’ll find that everybody's got somewhere to go
but you've got nowhere to go

I've seen their faces
they're half excited
but mostly filled with fear
the lonely man and family man
have the same complaints
only in reverse
both feel cursed
but it's only time
there is always
too much or not enough
and our lives are either
too big or too small
to fill the space
and somewhere in the middle
is the average man
we should make him king
standing in the middle
he is the only one that
can see it all for what it is
nothing and everything

and someday you’ll find that everybody's got somewhere to go
but you've got nowhere to go
